It is officially the holiday season. I don’t know about you, but I have family gathering after family gathering, a few holiday weddings and showers, and tons of friends coming in from out of town. Literally there is so much joy in spending all this time with our friends and family, but I’m internally freaking out about the state of our home.
My husband and I love hosting, and we are closing in on finishing up (fingers crossed) all of our renovations due to Hurricane Harvey. With our house basically off limits for all family and friend gatherings the past few months, I have been beyond ready to host something at our home. With new walls and floors and everything else, I am determined to make our house, a warm and welcoming home for everyone.
The best thing about fall and winter is that it tends to bring out the coziest home accessories and delicious scents! There are definitely some girls here, at The Breast Cancer Charities of America’s offices, who have pointed me to some amazing home décor sites and shops to make my warm cozy home dreams come true!
I love creating a warm space by always having soft throws or blankets strung on my sofa or on a blanket ladder. You never know here in Texas, one winter day may bring 85 degree weather or 45 degree chills. Light throws not only make the living space look comforting, but they don’t suffocate you or your guest when you use them. I love this one from Target!
I am also all about candles that are fitting with the time of year. A few weeks ago, I purchased my bestie one of these bonfire candles and I wanted to get one for myself, but I resisted. The holidays are always good for warm spicy candles that fill the room with cheer! It’s definitely easier than always having to bake something in the oven to fill the room with a good scent. Voluspa makes wonderful candles. The large size can be pricey, but I just stick to the little tins as I go through candles and scents like crazy.
Other great home-warming items you can accessorize your space with are shaggy or faux fur throw rugs (these are PERFECT comfy spots for kids on Christmas morning). I also like putting subtle holiday touches everywhere, like hand towels in the kitchen and guest bathrooms or pinecones in my centerpieces.
I hope your holidays are filled with good health, love, and warmth. Keep your home cozy and welcoming and an abundance of love and good memories will flourish!
