Sonya’s Story

survivor-storyMy name is Sonya and I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer on April 26, 2017.

Shortly after I started treatment, I received the most thoughtful care package, I’m not sure how, but I’m glad that I did. This beauty bag that I received put such a smile on my face in one of the toughest times I’ve gone through.

I was diagnosed at the age of 35 and I was told that I only had 5 years to live. It was like someone came and punched me in the gut. But a year later, I cleaned up my eating habits and I am feeling healthier and happier than I was a year ago. Life is so short and by trying to live in the ‘now’ I’ve come to learn that at the end of the day YOU have the power to fight and to live!

Throughout this difficult journey, my sister and husband have been there for me since the beginning, and I honestly don’t know what I would do without both of them. My friends and family has brought me so much joy and been the biggest support system.

Even though the doctors put a time stamp on my life, I will continue to fight and live!
