holiday-appetizers

A Holiday Party is totally my scene. White Elephant, crazy Christmas sweater contests, a spread of amazing food and holiday appetizers, and all my favorite people getting together. It can be more difficult around the holidays to focus on fueling your body with healthy foods, but I still try to be conscious about all that I am eating (while allowing myself a little grace). I mean food is fuel and its health benefits are endless, including reducing your risk for breast cancer. So when I host or go to a holiday potluck I try to bring something that is delicious and healthy for everyone to enjoy. Here are some of our favorite healthy holiday appetizers!

1. Simple Caprese Salad Skewers

I actually take these to parties all the time, but they are a great, fresh, appetizer option to bring to your next holiday party. The red, green and white are a nice festive touch as well!

2. Smoked Salmon Pinwheels

Confession, I hate salmon. But around the holidays I always get a craving for smoked salmon. Add some everything bagel seasoning and lay on a bed of arugula for that extra lox and bagels touch.

3. Brussel Sliders

I am the brussel sprouts queen, so this is a homerun in my book. Swap the real bacon for healthier turkey bacon option and these will be gone quicker than you can say Saint Nick.

4. Caponata with Whole Grain Crackers

This caponata is a family tradition in our house. Serve it warm or chilled with whole grain crackers and you will be making this all year round.

5. Spinach Artichoke Dip

Spinach Artichoke Dip can be filled with full fat cheeses and cream, but this healthy alternative is a great way to include a crowd favorite. Serve with veggie sticks and whole grain pita bread.

Pesto, chicken, all on a thin flatbread is just what you need to bring to your next holiday party.
