“Don’t look back, don’t look to the future, just live each day to the fullest and live in the moment you have been blessed with.”

My first round of breast cancer, I was diagnosed in July 2014 with Stage 2B breast cancer, and that following October I had a double mastectomy followed by chemo and reconstruction. I was on hormonal therapy for almost 5 years and thought that I was out of the woods. But my breast cancer came back. I was diagnosed again with Stage 4 breast cancer in February of 2019.

Accepting that my breast cancer came back was the hardest thing about this whole journey. Knowing that I will be on chemo for the rest of my life can be challenging. But each day is a gift from God. I am very blessed. I have such an amazing support system that helps me get through the hard days. My husband is the best care-taker I could have ever asked for. My Pink Sisters, who I meet with on a monthly basis for lunch have been so loving and strong with me throughout my 5-year journey. I truly am so blessed to know such beautiful people.

I first came to hear about iGoPink/The Breast Cancer Charities of America after receiving a Feeling Beautiful Again bag back in 2014 and am starting to get involved with the organization again this year. Their beauty bag gave me so much hope and if I could give advice and a little hope to others on their journey, I would encourage them to have faith. I have had such strong faith since I was diagnosed and have learned to take each day one day at a time. Don’t look back, don’t look to the future, just live each day to the fullest and live in the moment you have been blessed with.

Just remember to never give up and keep fighting!
