7 of the best Netflix series to binge watch during recovery
If you’re looking for new Netflix series shows to binge, you’ve come to the right place. When I had my daughter, I took off about 6 months from work. And during my breast reduction surgery I took off about 6 weeks. So, trust me when I say I’ve had PLENTY of time to knock out show series. Ask anyone who knows me, I LOVE getting into new series on Netflix. I got extremely into my shows at one time, that I had to cut back because I was having trouble keeping up with all of them lol. It got a little out of hand to say the least.
I know a thing or 2 about getting restless or bored when having to let your body heal and recover. Before, I could lay in bed all day and watch an entire season, but now I’m a busy-body mom with a 3-year-old and lounging around all day at home alone probably will never work for me. I know that’s the case for a lot of women having to recover from their surgeries resulting from breast cancer.
We have a list of things to do and you think “hey I’m finally not at work, let me get a few things done”. Take it from me who tried running errands not even 36 hours after my surgery, YOU NEED REST. I was back home within the hour dealing with an immense amount of pain and even more regret. As hard as it may seem to you, lay back, get your healthy snacks, stock up on your water and choose a new series to throw yourself into.
Having trouble finding a good show to watch? Tell me about it. It usually takes getting into the 3-4 episode to know if you’re really going to like a show and who has time for that?! Not us! Now of course I could list the most popular and well-known shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Friends, The Office, etc. but, I thought I’d give a little extra UMPH and give you some of the best shows I’ve watched that are on the lower side of the highly talked about shows. Whether you like comedy, romance or drama, I’ve included a little bit of everything! Pick a show and ENJOY some relaxation while you recover!
Grace & Frankie – If you love Jane Fonda (who doesn’t?) you’ll rave over Grace & Frankie! The rival duo has always had it out for one another until their husbands decide they want to get married to one another. Since life as they know it starts falling apart, the pair can only rely on one another! It really is such a heart-warming, feel-good, show that you don’t want to miss out on!
Hart of Dixie – If you are a Grey’s Anatomy & Private Practice fan, you will swoon over Hart of Dixie. A New York gal, whose dreams fall apart, inherits a medical practice in Alabama. The small town she ends up in has tons of crazy characters that she ends up patching up and is a huge change of pace then what she is used to. If you want a good laugh, this show will give you side stitches!
Jane the Virgin – Although Jane vowed to remain a virgin until marriage, she somehow ends up pregnant due to a medical slip-up and has her whole world turned upside down. This feel-good show really will get you laughing and crying all in one episode. There aren’t many shows with values/morals like this one, so I highly recommend this one!
New Girl – Needing a whole lot of laughs? Turn on New Girl right now! Sam is a quirky-weird girl that just wants to find love after being broken up with. She doesn’t quite understand how to get back into the dating game. Lucky for her, her amazing new roommates become her best wing-men and best friends!
Reign – Now for a darker and drama filled show, Reign is definitely up there! This series is about a vivid uprise of Mary, Queen of Scots, with many racy and political details within! This one is definitely a show you can’t stop watching once you’ve started.
Super Natural – If you like a nail-biter and an adventure all in one then Supernatural will get you on the edge of your bed. 2 brothers travel cross-country looking to investigate paranormal activity and even pick fights with the demons and ghosts! Talk about an adrenaline rush!
White Collar – This crime-filled show is definitely different than most. While a very suave conman is trying to avoid jail-time, he signs on to assist an FBI agent to catch other white-collar criminals. But as all crime shows, doesn’t fully unveil his ulterior motive.
