Between losing 90% of my clothing due to Harvey and starting my first internship here at The Breast Cancer Charities of America (which has been amazing so far), a new wardrobe was definitely a must for me. The problem for me is I never know where to begin to shop! However, as I looked through pictures of our Wine, Women and Shoes event from September and saw the number of retailers giving back, that narrowed my list quickly. Why not spend money somewhere that you know that money ends up to a good cause? Here are my favorite items I’ve picked up so far that are a must for a new wardrobe:
Pants are always the hardest for me to shop for because 1. I’m 5’8 and 2. Leggings > Pants. As much as I wish they would count my favorite leggings as office wear, its never going to happen. The miracle that did happen was me finding the PERFECT pair of pants that worked with my height and comfort. These Michael Kors dress pants from Dillard’s work for me because whether I want to rock them with flats or heels; I can still be comfortable and professional.
Unfortunately not only my clothes were lost, but my favorite pair of every day earrings was lost as well. Previously they were the Sophee Earring from Kendra Scott, so I knew what I loved and I loved even more how much Kendra Scott did for our Wine, Women and Shoes event! I go in planning on the same pair of earrings, but I was able to find something new! Not only are they similar to the earrings I had before, but this time they had more of a statement (but still super light weight). You can rock these during the day, then at night to all of the holiday parties that are coming up.
So since I hate pants, and cannot always be in leggings, my go to is always dresses! Plus if I am going to be with the BCCA, I needed to add some pink to my wardrobe. This dress from Elaine Turner is going to be perfect for all occasions because you can keep it casual with booties or throw on some heels to dress it up! If you’re in search for the perfect bootie, then I have that solved for you. They are from Magnolia Mey, which is a local boutique right outside The Woodlands. Don’t worry they have a website online where you can have them shipped if you are not close.
If you are not looking for a whole new wardrobe but are still looking to shop for a cause, then head over to Hearts for a Cause (www.heartsforacause.com) . This October, 100% of net profits go directly back to BCCA!
