Kristin’s Story

I was first diagnosed in September of 2016, and I am currently taking part in a trial with oral chemo in addition to my standard treatment. The one thing that this journey has changed the most for me is to not take things for granted, and to also live my own life. I need to feel like I am in control of my life and my outcomes. I attend 2 support groups but I also have great friends who have made this so much easier and been such a big support to me. They have really brought so much joy during this time.

I first heard of BCCA through an email I had received. They sent me a Feeling Beautiful Again bag that completely lifted my spirits. My advice to others going through this process would be to know that it is not all done after treatment stops. You still need ongoing support from friends and family members to help you accept the changes you go through.
