With the holidays, literally, right around the corner, I have been in full on decorating mode! Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday ever, so I tend to go a little overboard with the decorating, and the tree always seems to get up a little earlier and earlier each year.
But it also gets me thinking about who doesn’t get to celebrate the holidays because they are in the hospital. Working at BCCA during the holidays is really hard because we often hear from so many women who don’t have the money to spend it on gifts or to spend it on decorations. So, this year I decided to give back. I know that not everyone has the means to donate money, but there is so much more to give than money.
My future sister-in-law makes it a point every year at Christmas to go down to a homeless shelter and serve dinner to those individuals. It really does give you a sense of how fortunate you are. Christmas isn’t always about the gifts and decorations. So, I encourage everyone to do something this holiday season to give back. Whether it be donating, volunteering, or even sending a little bit of inspiration to someone in need. Holiday inspiration can come from anywhere and anything, so be the light for someone in a time of darkness.
Our Feeling Beautiful Again program is something that is meant to encourage and provide hope and inspiration to women going through breast cancer treatment. Our Beauty Bags contain a different array of beauty/cosmetic products that are sent out nation-wide. This program is so easy to get involved with, as you can request a bag for someone you know who may be going through breast cancer treatment during the holidays, or you can even host your own beauty drive and collect new beauty products. There are really so many ways to get involved during the holiday season. Pick your cause and get involved!
