Food For Thought

If you know me well, then you know I love to indulge into some unhealthy junk food.  With my wedding coming up I knew that I needed to start eating healthy and getting into a regular exercise routine.

In the past, I’ve tried eating so strictly and exercising everyday but always end up getting burnt out and quitting, just ending up regretting the fact that I stopped.  But as I have gotten older and the health and fitness industry has blown up, I have really learned a lot on how to best set myself up.  The thing for me is to give myself balance; my sister has really helped me by telling me to eat 80/20.  Meaning, eat 80% healthy and clean – typically throughout the week, and then indulge 20% on the weekends. Balance has helped me push myself harder with my health and eating habits, because it allows me to indulge and not cut out my beloved chicken nuggets or donuts!

For my own mindset, this balance has really saved me. Everyone has different routines and restrictions, but for me balance works the best, and I have seen the most results. It is important to feed your body healthy and whole foods, but it is also okay to indulge and have a cheat meal every now and then.

Everyone’s health goal is different, whether you are just recently diagnosed with breast cancer, or just trying to achieve a healthier lifestyle, it’s important to listen to your body.
